Corey shares another way to get a cool 3D light beam effect.
Corey finishes up the Olympic-inspired design that he began last week in Part 1.
The Olympic-inspired tutorial will be coming in two parts. Stop by next week for the conclusion to this video.
This week’s tutorial deals with creating masks for complicated images by using channels.
You can open RAW images in Camera Raw right from Bridge in Photoshop CS3. This frees up Photoshop to continue working on your files while they’re being processed in Camera Raw. Just select one or more images in Bridge, Control-click (PC: Right-click) on them, and choose Open in Camera Raw. This will open the image(s) in Bridge’s Camera Raw rather than Photoshop. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Command-R (PC: Ctrl-R).

That was great! Very cool to see how quickly you did all of that and very helpful too. Thanks, Corey!

Earth Shattering tutorial, as usual.
Just a small question: how did you delete that ruler so quickly?
Because I use to just drag them to the side of the image, but is there a quick erase shortcut?
Thanks

Nice tutorial, Corey. As always, you did a remarkable job in reverse engineering this movie logo. The one aspect that you did not address was the light source. On the movie logo, the light at the bottom of the “one” was the source for the other numbers. So the bevelled edges of the left two and zero were illuminated on the right side, while the left edges of the right hand two were illuminated. Not a biggy, but it added to the realism of the burst of light at the bottom of the “one.”

Sweet effect. For anyone interested in buying the actual 2012 font, it’s called Agency FB (according to whatthefont.com).

Dunno where to ask but how do you smooth the edges on 3d objects after rotating? mine looks all pixel-ish and jagged..:(

Another great work two thumbs up for you my friend.
I’ve been watching your tutorials for some time now and i noticed that you are always using your metal textured photo well I’m just wondering if you could send it to me..
I tried searching for photo that came close to it but did not find one that is as good as that one and i dont want to buy it from some website.

Hey, I agree with Riki.
Maybe you could upload the metall texture on imageshack.com

Thanks for the tutorial. I am following fine up until you cut the end off of the two after loading it as a selection. What keyboard button are you pressing to get rid of it. I pressed delete but it gets rid of the zero as well. I’m lost on that part. Help please! I want to finish the tutorial.

The font Agency FB is, contrary to Luke’s comment, available for both PC and Mac, and has been since it was re-created in 1990. It’s most easily available as a TrueType font. (silly PC user! being smart is really hard, isn’t it?)

thanks for the tutorial, corey.
