I have gotten several requests or questions about where to get some really good stock images. While there are a number of sites that have good images at varying prices, there are two that I visit frequently. The first is iStockPhoto.com. They have a large database of images, illustrations, and videos, all at varying price ranges for different uses. The second site is Fotolia.com. This site offers remarkable images and illustrations at comparable pricing to iStock. I frequent both of these sites, not just to purchase images, but also to do a little idea harvesting. These sites offer images and illustrations that other users have done and it can be quite an inspiration to just search through and just get ideas. Give it a try. You may find that spark.

If you have a multilayer composition and you
want to apply an effect to all the layers at once, don’t flatten the layers–use a composite layer instead. Hide the layers you want excluded, and press Shift-Command-Option-E (PC: Shift-Ctrl-Alt-E). A new layer will be created at the top containing a merged copy of all the visible layers.
Another option is to create a new layer at the top of the stack and make it active. Command-click (PC: Ctrl-click) each layer you want to include to make those layers active, as well. Press Option-Command-E (PC: Alt-Ctrl-E).
