Special Guest on Pixel Perfect This Week!

When I was at Photoshop World in Las Vegas back in October I had the pleasure of appearing on Bert Monroy’s podcast Pixel Perfect. That episode is available this week. Click here to check it out. I actually did two tutorials in this episode. In the first I show you how to create a 3D butterfly using the new 3D features in Photoshop CS4 Extended and then I show you how to create a really match striking fire effect. Thanks Bert, it was a lot fun!!

    Hi Corey,

You are awesome and I learn a lot from your tutorials.

That episode was last weeks, but you were the best PSworld guest Bert has had.

Create A Composite Layer

If you have a multilayer composition and you
want to apply an effect to all the layers at once, don’t flatten the layers–use a composite layer instead. Hide the layers you want excluded, and press Shift-Command-Option-E (PC: Shift-Ctrl-Alt-E). A new layer will be created at the top containing a merged copy of all the visible layers.

Another option is to create a new layer at the top of the stack and make it active. Command-click (PC: Ctrl-click) each layer you want to include to make those layers active, as well. Press Option-Command-E (PC: Alt-Ctrl-E).
