Winner of the Jan 15th, 2009 Contest: Music

By: Lisa

Before i discovered Planet Photoshop, I was a self-taught Photoshop user and was very limited. Now i have a decent skill level and can create a lot of things using the skills I have learned here. In this picture, I used many skills. I used the pattern stamp, radial blur/fade radial blur, and colorizing skills from the ‘Energize that Photo’ tutorial. I used finger painting, layer mask, layer styles, and lens flare for my text effect from the ‘Sci-Fi Text Effect’ tutorial. I also used other skills i learned from Corey and his tutorials, like creating a path with the pen tool, and applying a stroke with simulated pressure.

Very cool image! Great composition and motion. The colors balance beautifully. It looks like Corey’s got us all hooked on Trajan Pro. Sincere congratulations.

Create A Composite Layer

If you have a multilayer composition and you
want to apply an effect to all the layers at once, don’t flatten the layers–use a composite layer instead. Hide the layers you want excluded, and press Shift-Command-Option-E (PC: Shift-Ctrl-Alt-E). A new layer will be created at the top containing a merged copy of all the visible layers.

Another option is to create a new layer at the top of the stack and make it active. Command-click (PC: Ctrl-click) each layer you want to include to make those layers active, as well. Press Option-Command-E (PC: Alt-Ctrl-E).
