Last Day in New York

 

Well it’s the last day of classes here at B&H and I must admit, it has been a lot of fun. I met a lot of really interesting people who are truly passionate about learning Photoshop. I met a man that is 80 years old and posed some really intelligent questions. Proof positive that it is never to late to learn something new.

This being my first time to B&H Photo, I must admit I was really impressed on many levels. First, the scale of the store is just immense, even more so with the newly expanded area upstairs dedicated entirely to cameras of all makes and models. Second is the staff. They were extremely friendly, but much more than that, they were very knowledgeable of the products. Bottom line, this business is truly a well-oiled machine and there is always a good size crowd. If you find yourself in the New York area. Add this place to your list of stops.

Also, Larry Becker (Director of NAPP) and I went out for a little photo safari in Times Square last night and we managed to get a few decent images. Click here to see a larger view of the one to the right here.

    I live only two hours north of NYC but unfortunately I was unable to catch your act in the Big Apple. Having worked in a Madison Avenue creative agency, I know that you’re a mega-star in the imaging world and probably attracted a crowd. Aside from the all-business trip to B&H, what were the highlights of your visit. I hope you were properly “shown the town”, but it’s just as likely that you worked your butt off and just hit the hotel room. Anyway, y’all come back now, and come up here to the Catskills for some Northern hospitality and scenery!

    p.s. Thanks for the kick-ass PlanetPhotoshop site, and thanks for the emailed tips-of-the-day. You’ve steadily elevated my PS game and I’m grateful.

Imageready’s Supercharged Eyedropper

In previous versions of Photoshop, you could only use the Eyedropper tool to sample a color from other open images in Photoshop, but for some reason, ImageReady had a supercharged Eyedropper. If you clicked the mouse button within your image and held it down, you could leave your image window and sample colors from, well… just about anything—including your computer desktop or any other open application. Freaky! Fortunately, Adobe finally added this same power to Photoshop’s Eyedropper tool.
