In painter i had the ability to drag my brush out onto the canvas and kind off have a shortcut icon to click on so i could quickly switch brushes, anyway i can switch brushes like this in photoshop? or any other way to make a shortcut?

There´s a way to create a kind of Shortcut to your prefered brushes is to create a brush preset: read this tutorial about creating a brush preset.
