I created a logo in illustrator that I want to transfer to Photoshop to edit. There is one simple graphic portion I drew in Illustrator and the rest of the logo is text spelling out the name of my company.

My question is this --- When I open the image in Photoshop, How can I apply effects to this image? Namely, I want to be able to emboss the graphic portion along with the text to give it a 3-d look.

All of my efforts have only applied these blending options to the rectagle surrounding the logo. Does photoshop allow you to seperate the logo portion from the canvas so you can freely edit it?

Will I be able to emboss the text in this logo or will I have to redesign the whole logo in photoshop?

Thank you kindly!

Did you try converting the text in Illustrator to outlines before bringing it into Photoshop? Try doing that and using a simple copy/paste to get the file into Photoshop.

Save the Illustrator file as an .eps file and PS should let you open it for editing.

I don't have the newest version of Photoshop, so their may be a better way of exporting the file nowadays.
