I was disappointed with the color quality of some photos I sent to a local printer.

I had the same loss of color when I posted my photos on the web.

Yet, when I printed at home my photos looked great.

I learned that my problem was color space.
Had I used sRGB I wouldn't have had the two problems listed above.

+++ Question – how do I convert my edited photos to sRGB?

My default color space is Adobe RGB. Should I change it to sRGB / Import my photos / Change to sRGB and re-save?

Thanks,
Bill

T convert edited images go edit>convert to profile and in the dialogue that opens, choose the required colour space, then save or save as as appropriate

Hi,

Generally Adobe RGB is better color space because it have wider gamut of colors. To ensure best printing results if you are printing on desktop printer you have to read the manual of your printer device, because you have to know for what color space, resolution your device is calibrated. And when you find out all that use that color space for your printer. Mostly desktop printers are calibrated to sRGB color space. And yet another thing what i suggest to you is to edit your pictures in Adobe RGB and when you want to print them convert documents to your's printer color profile. As i said before Adobe RGB is best color space you want work with and is ideal for digital photographers (i suppose you want to work with more colors:D ).

Thanks.

I agree that Adobe RGB is best. My camera is set to shoot Adobe RGB.

My home printer has no problem printing excellent pictures in Adobe RGB, but the local, department store, print service does. Pictures sent to them in Adobe RGB don't look good. Changing my photos to sRGB seems to help. (I assume a more expert color lab would have no problems with advance color depths)

With both your inputs I think I'll follow this work flow:

Convert my RAW files to Adobe RGB
Edit and save (usuallty TIFF)

Then, and only when I want to use a local printer or show off my work on the web, I'll use the Edit / Convert steps listed above.

Thanks for the help,
Bill

Thanks again for your help, but I have one more question.

Is there a way to do batch conversions? Say through Bridge?

Thanks,
Bill

Hi BillS22,

Yes it is possible to do Batch operations from Bridge. But first thing first, you have to create an action in Photoshop (in brand new action set or any existing one you have) of some process you use a lot. For example you want to convert your Color mode from RGB to CMYK just record action that will work. After that launch Bridge and go to TOOLS>PHOTOSHOP>BATCH, and in Batch dialog box for SET choose one where is your action and in ACTION choose the action you want. But to batch photos from Bridge you have to select the first all photos you want to Batch process. (Bridge, nifty application:D ) A lot things you can do from Bridge.

If you have any questions, post them here. I hope it was helpful.
