Hi...newbie here. I searched the forums but could only find information on upsizing. I need to downsize.
Here's my question. I need to submit a group of photo's and they need to be 600 pixels wide, 72 dpi, saved as JPEG in RGB mode), and also one 50-by-50 pixel icon (saved as JPEG in RGB mode at 72 dpi.). Most of the images currently are 300 dpi and various sizes.
Can someone help me with a way to do this so I make sure I am doing it right?
Thanks!

Hi,
First when you open your image go to IMAGE>IMAGE SIZE or press this keyboard shortcut it works only in CS2, any older version of Photoshop do not have that shortcut which is ALT+CTRL+ I (PC), OPTION+COMMAND+I (MAC). When your image size window appears first make sure to uncheck RESAMPLE IMAGE and than lower the resolution of your document for example from 300ppi to 72ppi and press OK. After that you need again to open IMAGE SIZE window and this time check RESAMPLE IMAGE and all two options above it. On top of the IMAGE SIZE you have PIXEL DIMENSIONS part and for width enter your desired resolution which in this case is 600 px (don't click ok yet :D ) after you done that just go to the bottom of the IMAGE SIZE window and in dropdown menu where by default is BICUBIC you choose BICUBIC SHARPER which will keep your detail on your photo when you downsize it.
And for that 50x50px do the same process or if you can't get the exact measurement choose crop tool and in option bar choose width and height (you can set it in px, mm, cm, in,...) and for resolution enter the value of 72 (cause you said you need that one :D ) and your image will be cropped to exactly measurement you entered.
See ya, enjoy

At www.russellbrown.com you can download some nice apps that do the ¨dirty¨work for you. Check´m out!
Also, in Bridge you can select Tools>Photoshop>Image Processor
