Hi All

I am a new member who needs help in photoshop. Please see the link below to a site as a sample of what I like to create.

http://www.hospitaltelevision.net/nick/

His opening image, 5th and 6th images..

I know that he creates these images by shooting film, and printing them by hand, adjusting filters exposure etc..

I know that this can be done in photoshop but I had no joy after soo many sleepless nights..

Can someone xplain please?

I feel he has some sort of color cast over his images. I had some succes creating his pinkish cast by adding color layer and erasing some parts of the image. But I cant even get close to his first image? it is green, over exposed, almost dreamy?

any help would be immensly appriciated..

Best
Umit

In the layers palette, click on the Create New adjustment or fill layer button (the ying yang like one) and select Photo Filter. Choose the color you want and any opacity, Click Ok. Then in the layers palette experiment with different blending modes.

You can do what he said, but then you can adjust the exposure under Image-Adjustments-Exposure there is also the Color Balance that might help you.

I've seen that same cast when scanning negatives on my roomates' epson perfection 4990 photo series flatbed scanner. I think the cast was caused by SilverFast the color correction software that came with the scanner. I'm sure that you can get similar casts with other similar scanners.

Anyway you can sure get this same effect using a few simple steps in photoshop. open the image, this is for pc, if your mac, Ctrl=Command Alt=option backspace=delete= oh i how loathe those apple commericals, macs are just as shitty. anywho get ready to..... have a flat brown cast.

1.put burrito in microwave, heat on high for two minutes, then open your photo you want to brown up and down.

2. Pick a color similar to the cast in his picture, I used the brown in the bottom left hand side of the swatches pallete.

3. Crtl+SHIFT+N, ENTER creates a new blank layer

4. Alt+BACKSPACE fills layer with foreground color, that ugly brown.

5. Ctrl+J duplicates that ugly brown layer

Now we have two ugly brown layers lets put them to good use.

6. click on the bottom layer, change the blend mode to Multiply by choosing it from the drop down menu in the top left of the layers pallete.

7. click on the top one and change it's mode to Vivid Light

8. Now lower the oppacity of the two layers. I have mine set at 60% Vivid Light and 40% Multiply. of course the oppacity of each layer will vary depending on the contrast of your image. Also you can experiment with different styles of blending modes.
