Hi
I'm a fairly new user to Photoshop. I have CS2. I wanted to add text to an image to make a signature for a forum. In the past i have done this and not had any problems. But this time something strange has happened. The text is unreadable if it is below around 1000pt. The image size is 500x150 pixels and in the past i've been able to use about a 12pt font. I think maybe i've changed some settings or something...any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank You :D

click on Window>Character or if the Character palette is already open then select it.In the upper right of the Character palette there is a small arrow. click on that arrow and scroll to Reset Character. Hopefully after you select Reset Character the text will start behaving. Not knowing what the text is doing you could also Reset Paragraph just in case. (HTH) John
same has happened to me :(
il try fixing it now :)

I have the same problem and I tried to do all they suggested above, but it's still behaving strange. When it's at 1296 px it's around 20 to 30 px when it works properly... Hope someone can help me

I've been having the same problem, though I have CS3. I tried what was suggested but the problem continues. When I put the font at it's highest px it still looks very small, I guess you could say Sophietje and I have the same problem as well.
Please, someone help.

Never had this problem but have you tried resetting all 'Tool Presets. The tab next to 'Brushes' tab, un-check 'Current tool only' box and click flyout arrow. then choose 'Reset all tools'.
You will find there are so many hidden things in Photoshop that you wont get an answer straight away, sometimes you have to email someone like Corey who have inside knowledge that we mere mortals would never find. Check out my old buddy Nemesis's reply in forum under 'Issues', that is what I mean by 'hidden'
Nemesis I think you are needed
Hope this works :)

Hello,
Some of you with that font problem may have huge document size for example your ppi could be insanely high and document dimensions large. So check that out first. Secondly my friend Old Geezer gave you great advice. Try reseting tools if that won't help than try reseting adobe photoshop settings file as my buddy Old Geezer said go to my post "Issues" and you'll see how it that can be done. That should solve your problems because it sets the Photoshop to factory defaults.
See ya

in preferences, go to rulers and units try to change it to pixel(px) instead of point(pt). Hope it helps.:)
Or go to >>image >> image size >> try to change the DPI(i guess it turned to 1dpi) >> change it to 72-(your preference dpi) with the same width and height

First, great advices nemesis and old geezer.
But maybe you guys also should check your fonts so that they aren't broken in some way.

I'm having the same problem but I am using Photoshop Elements 6.0. I've tried everything that was suggested here and my fonts are still absolutely unreadable. At 1296pt it is still absolutely unreadable.
Also, the restore to factory settings fix (the CTRL+SHIFT+ALT) didn't work for me.
For a 100x100 image, is there any particular resolution or dpi I should have it set to? What can I do?

You may have some faulty true type font that it is bad already. Try with some fonts that are made by big companies like some Open Type fonts. Try typing your text with Myriad Pro or Myriad, use Adobe fonts if you have any. Anyways start with 12pt for your document size so you can decide will you shrink it or enlarge it.
