This is always interesting to read: what would you like to see in the next version of Photoshop?
What would you add?
What would you improve?
What would you like to see removed?
etc
Ready, go

I'd love to see a technology added that gives us the ability to do all our edits on a low resolution version of the file, and then when we're done, we could then apply all those same edits to the high-res version of the file, just like people did 10 years ago in LivePicture.
Give me that, and anything else in PS3 is just icing on the cake. :)

I'm very irritated that they changed their link layers system. I'm cussin' right now cause i have to stop and figure out how to link a freakin layer again. Was the other way just way to intuative?
The new way is pretty cool too. Just shift and click on the layers you want linked. To make them linked more permanently. Select the layers you want linked, then click on the link icon, first icon at bottom of the layers palette.

I get a lot of people saying they don't like the "new way" in layers since the old way was easier. The more I use it I realize that it wasn't easier at all before, it's just cuz we were used to linkling layers. Think about it: in every program except PS you Shift click on multiple "things" to select them, but in PS you always had to link instead. To me, the new way is actually better/easier now that I've gotten over the fact that it's different.

For starters, I hope they will not call it CS3. If they're smart they'll use either 10 or X for the next version.

I agree. So, why can't we work on images like animators do in 3d progs on refrence low rez images then "render" them at print quality or even better, higher rez larger ready to print files just from a dialog such as the "save jpeg" dialog? Maybe, a dialog that lets you choose to sharpen for output, image size, quality etc. And IMO dump obsolite tools such as "paint bucket" replace them with say "selective paint" or something that that when selected you "option click" a color and replace the clicked color in your image with your own color flat out. Something like a "color clone stamp" to replace the "color replacement" tool? Simular to the healing brush or patch tool, but when selected you could clone/patch/heal color only to selected parts of your image with one tool straight on without the color shift from underlying color. Just my 2 cents. I have more but that was a start.

I think in principle this is a great idea, however, anyone working on extra fine detail will know, the more pixes you view the better...
A few versions ago, photoshop had the ability to open just a section of the image which could be edited and saved back to the original image.
One thing I would like changed is...
Can everything, adjustments, filters etc work on CMYK images - PLEASE

Just working on a nightmare job...
Usually these are fine, just turn on/off layers, dupe the magenta channel to be the spot and then knockout the layers from the spot underneath, but this one is being a B**ch.
Wouldn't it be cool to be able to specify a layer as a spot colour so the layers above (white and transparent elements) automatically knock out...!

I hope that they could add these things to CS3:
- Proper pixel display of images at every zoom level
- Canvas rotation similar to Corel Painter (via the pan tool)
- Allow all interface and tool changes to be recorded via actions e.g. brush blending mode changes
- Customizeable quad menu similar to 3dsmax with assignable hotkey
- A canvas mode which enables realistic blending of colors (blue + yellow make green not the current result: gray o_O
- Within the Free Transform tool, a way to distort along a curve such as a "U" shape or lower case "n" shape.
- A mixing pallette like Corel Painter
- A faster more intuative way to use Pattern Overlay from the layer style menu (most importantly a way to collapse the style faster)
- Customized UI colors
- A more advanced Select Color Range tool which can dissect an image into a chosen amount of layers e.g. 10 layers for 10 feathered value ranges
- Less focus on consumer based additions like remove red eye and more focus on power users who need customized input and automation
- A glow brush like Corel Painter which looks at the colors on canvas not just the selected color like the most similar photoshop brush color dodge
I am a power user and work professionally with Photoshop in the game industry 5 hours+ a day. These are things all my co workers also find necessary additions to the program. So Adobe... balls in your court!
P.S. If someone knows a way to do these things in the current version please speak up! =D

What I actually would like is the ability to create BIG posters without any "waiting time"! In my view, it takes a whole lot of PC resource to try and work with BIG (by big I mean more than 40" wide and 90" tall), for banners and posters for example. Even if you create it at 20% of the actual printable size, it would be nice if you can accomplish it by using less resources and time!
Can't think of anything other than that.......Photoshop and it's new features can be a great tool when used with imagination!
Explore and you'll see !!!

I would like a palette system like InDesign!

In liquify mode you should be able to do undo more than once
I would like it if liquify wasn't its own window, maybe a subset of tools like a brush, with settings in the brush dynamics section.
