TIFF files

A client gave me some TIFF files to retouch. Is there any need to convert them to PSD files when working on them as TIFF supports layers and has a lossless compression? Thanks.

Well TIFFs support anything except Duotones. I didn't tried it with Smart Objects or Smart Filters but i guess it can support that too. Is public domain format yet again owned by Adobe. Anyways if you prefer to work in PSD you can save it as PSD but if client requests TIFF always you can re save as TIFF. In this case is more what you prefer to work with and output what client wants or need.
