Hello all-

I have a scanned(300ppi) image of 1019x1492 pixels. At 300dpi the print size determined by CS2 was ~3.4x5 inches. Using CS2 I selected "scale to fit media" and printed a nice 5x7. I have an Epson 2400 Photo Ink Jet. After consulting a number of individuals about my printer it was determined that it probably has a max of 288 dpi.

The image was old and I restored it, looks very good now. So good, family wants an 8x10. I don't believe I have enough pixels to come close. I tried rescanning the 5x7 print to gain more pixels & print larger but the scan doesn't look good.

My question is can I get a good quality(similar to the 5x7) but larger, say up toward a 8x10? Should I just lower the dpi of the image to try and enlarge it? Any suggestions appreciated.:D

TIA

You could take a Photo of it then you could enlarge it up to 20 x 16 inches with no problem.
If you have a decent digital camera just light it evenly and make sure your camera is steady then just take a few photos and see which one looks the best.
When I restore photos and can get my hands on the original, I always photograph it rather than scan it, then you get a far superior end product.

Thanks for that info, I'll try it. I have a Nikon D300 I just got, sounds like a good job for it. :D
