At its heart, Lightroom is a very slick photo database, and one of the coolest things about it is it keeps track of all the photos you import, even if they’re not on your computer any longer. But this all starts with getting your photos into Lightroom. Here's how.

I have no personal need for Lightroom but lately one or two posts have covered some plug-ins and LR files that look quite useful. Is there any inter-changeability between the two apps. Lr and Ps? I think Matt K. has some preset for LR and I'd like to know if it can be used in Ps.
I know Photographers can get a lot out of Lightroom - but for most of us Bridge is just fine - thankyou! As I stated before Adobe are building too many redundancies into their programs. I think we have noticed that lately as Adobe are pulling a lot of free tweaks and apps that run with their programs.
So, utlimately I'd like to know more about cross-functionality of these often (to many of us) redundant programs.

I'm afraid everything that is made now has built in redundancy.
The problem is, everything in the computer world is redundant as soon as it is shipped as new technology is about 2 years ahead of manufacture (when we get it).
As for Lightroom, photographers prefer it to PS as it does a different job. A lot of the presets for specific cameras is a great tool and it makes starting adjustments a lot less guess work. This is one you can use in Camera Raw.
As a photographer I use Lightroom most of the time but as a photo-restorer I use Lightroom or Camera Raw first then take it into PS for manipulating, most of the time anyway.
The other thing that is superior is the printing module in Lightroom. According to Matt K it is the best in the industry. Wouldn't know myself but he knows his stuff.
