Adding Videos!!!

a bit back i posted a thread asking how you add videos to your sigs, well seing as no1 came up with an answer i thought id look into it myself!!!

so now i kno how 2 do it i thought id make this tut and show u lot as well

this tut will get you to make this prince of persia sig (a game wich i recently bought and is very good! well worth it!) but you can modify it to fit with whateva you want!

first of all you need to get a video, it needs to be in .mov or qucktime videos, seing as most of my sigs are about games then i get my vids from http://gametrailers.com/ but if you no a better site then use that and leave me the link plz

once you've downloaded the vid of you choice then yo need to open up IR (imageready) not PS (photoshop)! go to file>open and select you vid! you'll then get a box like this:

Settings:
from begining to end: this will add the whole vid to the animation bar (useful for small vide)
Selected Range ony: only a selected piece of teh vid is put into the animation bar (useful for longer vids)
Limit to every: this can be used to make the video include less frames (i would limit it to every 2nd then you dont lose clarity)

for most basic sigs i could use the settings i used in the pic if not tweak them to your hearts contempt!

now click ok and you should have something that looka like this, with ur own vd obviously:

now to make sure that i dint miss any of the video i cut a little bit more of the video then i needed (as you can see frame 1 isnt part of what i want) so you may need to look at the start and end of ur animation bar to make sure youve got the bit you want!!! then play it though just to make sure that it looks gd!

Now because of this stupid 4 pics per post limit i will have 2 make a new post for the rest of the tut...

you will then need to resize the vid as it will be too big for most people! go to image>image size and you'll get a box like this:

you can change the sizes to suit your sig but i find that 100px hight is about right for an average sized sig!!! (make sure you constrain proportions though)

you vid will now bo the right size for you and now needs to be sent to PS so you can add still images! so... file>edit in photoshop !!!

now you need to make you canvas bigger so you can agg other grapix!!! got to image>canvas size and youll get something like this!:

just then set the settings to how big you want the whole sig to be mine is 400x150 but you can hav it any size!

now comes the very time consuming part!!! lol

if you look in the layers box youll see that you hav a LOT of layers, to make it easy to move then all around you'll need to add them all to a singe set (folder) to do this you need to click on the top layer and then click on the paperclip symbol next to all the other layers!!! this will link all the layers together! then you can simply click on new set from linked:

now you should have a set (folder) in the layers box with all teh video in! phew hard bit done!!!! lol

now all thats left is to create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+N) place it bhind the video set and use that to add a background (i used clouds then diferance clouds just as a quick 1 but you can do whateva you want) then inert a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+N) again and use that to put on your render(s)! now move it all around so its arganised how you want it(you computer may run a lil sloly when youre moving the vid as its such a big file)! Add a bit off text maybe?!

then just send it bak to IR file>edit in imageready

then file>save optimized as !!!!

thanks for the great tutorial but I'm having some problems, when I edit the image in PS and all the layers are imported from IR, I don't see the small paper clip box besides each layer. As a matter of fact I only see a visibility box, not two boxes like it shows in your example.

Any idea why I can only see one box?

yo nitehawk ...i am kinda new to photoshop ..still learning the basics.

i am having trouble with adding it i have a video witch is quicktime and i get to one stage where i dont have the clip edit on there at the bottom of one of your pics.
i have not used imageready that much just PS, does it matter if i havent registerd the imageready yet?

Hope you can help me.
