Well what do you use to make websites? I saw a video of the slice tool and photoshop and then putting it into dreamweaver, is that how you guys make sites?

Well....

Concerning me i like to make websites in Flash. I like more interactive experience and i think is trend in web design. I don't diminish any other web technology but this one is that i like the most. So i start prototyping the website in Photoshop or even better Illustrator (i can tell you by my opinion is better then Photoshop :D for prototyping). Both Photoshop and Illustrator works great with Flash starting from CS3 product line. Since Flash is vector based application Illustrator files are great when transferring them in Flash plus in Illustrator when you make symbol instances you can assign is it a movie clip for flash and registration point of it. And after i have imported design from Illustrator or Flash then i start making animations or such and i do all hard coding with Action Script 3. Also i use After Effects for some animations that can't be reproduced in Flash. So i export in friendly format that Flash can use and to be controlled with Action Script later. And i use also XML for making more dynamic Flash websites, then PHP for contact form and some other behaviors.

Secondly depending on client wishes i do CSS|HTML sites. I mean on table less HTML Pages. So i make DIVs with CSS. Again depends on client will site be elastic layout, fixed... And depending on dimensions of DIVs and plans of my designs i make graphics both in Photoshop and in Illustrator. Also i add flash elements to spice it up a bit. So CSS|HTML coding i am doing in Dreamweaver. Again some PHP for contact form and some Java Scripts.

Third way is table design which i don't use but workflow is like this. Prototyping page in Photoshop. Then importing in Fireworks and all slicing is done there. Then roll over and roll out effects are done in Fireworks with previously created graphic in prototype page and all behaviors. So Fireworks have a lot nifty automated features that you can transfer to Dreamweaver. So when is all done in Fireworks you are exporting html page with slices and in Dreamweaver you are creating new site and load data from Fireworks export so Dreamweaver recognizes Fireworks table and all behaviors. So you can make template page with editable regions in Dreamweaver and based on that you can make other pages. But table design nowdays is not popular. Loads slower, not optimized to have consistent appearance in all browsers, .... real hassle. Simply is harder to edit when client wants to make some change. And CSS based approach is different since you tweak more code then actual graphic elements.

But as i said on very start i like interactivity and Flash based projects always do look same in every browser.

Cheers ;)

For creating websites I use Joomla and sometimes Flash for some simple designs, nothing too complicated :)

There are always free templates that you can download if you don't wanna mess with web design :)

and for html formatting i use dream weaver.
but my approach is totally different than you all.
i also make use of div tag in order to make my site load faster.
this is search engine point of view is very important.
i am not only paying much attention towards home page design, but also to landing pages design. if you know nothing about landing pages then go to search engine and find for them.
landing pages are most important part of website from both search engine and user point of view.
you can down load templates for free but can also have look up over here.

I did took the photos. For particular ones i have used canon 400D (XTi) and 17-40mm f4 L lens. I have thousands of scarfs, sashes...photos. So i have used them in this project since this client is manufacturer of same ones. Plus they are all hand made.

Glad you liked it :)

pretty nice nemenis
cant understand the language but its about the image of course.
nice look anyway

what can you do with flash what you cant do with photoshop and dreamweaver. Can you set in dreamweaver that the button get lighter when you hold your mouse on it.
And how did you create the buttons. gradient and half darkend?? and did you use a little shadow?
ow and what letter type

Well accent was on simplicity and usability of website plus needed sleek look.

Anyway is a big difference what you can do in Flash compared to Dreamweaver. Again i don't want to diminish some web technique over another but i like Flash a lot. You have that interactivity that you can't get with HTML websites. Just go to www.thefwa.com and you'll see what i am talking about. Plus Flash websites are compatible with all browsers so no hassle to tweak code like in HTML so that your website would be consistent in all browsers.

Yes in DW you can set button to be lighter as Over state but this lighter at my side was following my mouse cursor on the menu so it indicates where you are hovering. And on click event that pinkish button will slide over to link on menu i have pressed. Plus both have some sleek motion with easing classes etc...

Concerning buttons i have used Illustrator to create them. Actually i have used Illustrator to prototype whole layout of website. And for buttons i have used radial gradient from top left corne ro bottom right corner with pink on one side and purple on other one. And i did simple rectangle on half of button which is white and i have lowered opacity of it so buttons got that look.

Font family i have used is Cronos Pro.

I use Photoshop and Illustrator to design the site. It all ends up in a mockup in photoshop for slicing before it gets on the web. Then I hand code it all in Dreamweaver in HTML and CSS. No flash for me. I have found that much of what is done in flash can be done with HTML and javascript which still leaves the site accessible for those on screen readers (blind or sight impaired) and gracefully degrades with Javascript off. HTML and CSS are also better for search engine results.

Yeah, the reason I don't use flash is because the search engines can't crawl it. So if you put your whole site in flash, it probably wont' show up as a top ranking site on google.

I always sketch up my idea in Photoshop and use illustrator as needed for some of the graphics.

Then I either kick it over to Flash or Flex if I'm going that way or it's straight to either DreamWeaver or TextMate for the coding side, and I use CSSEdit on the Mac for all my CSS needs due to it's realtime layout editing and X-Ray mode.

I also use MAMP so I can have a local server using apache, php and mysql for testing before throwing onto a real world server for proper testing and release.

I also really like making flash sites but usually only make full flash sites for personal or friends projects. For corporate clients I stick with html, css and javascript for search engine optimization. Sometimes I do incorporate flash elements in those sites I just don't create the entire site in flash.

Photoshop > Crop Tool > Notepad++
That's all you need.

I make a layout in photoshop, then I do 'image > apply image' on a empty layer at the top. From that I crop the pieces I need for my site and save them as .gif files.

Not that hard, is it?

I cheated this time around and used a template from cmd designs.

I have never used a template before, but due tou time constraints and work schedule I had no choice.

There customer support was amazing, and the ease of the site setup makes it worth it.
