Hi, Im creating a banner for a website, it's for a private contractor, and im trying to get the title for the banner to have a cool coloring effect.
Maybe it's masking Im looking for?
but Im trying to have the text look wooden, like not just brown text, but Mask it somehow so the text is filled with wood..
Im explaining this poorly, I hope someone gets my gibberish:(
Thank you.

Before you do anything else, peruse the Text tutorials on this web site. There are a ton of text effects here, written in step-by-step form, and one of those just might be creating wooden type.

Also, you might be interested in knowing how to create a clipping group. To "clip" (mask) any image to text, create the text and then place the image you wish to show through the text on *top* of the text layer in the layers palette. If the text is on top of the layers stack, this trick won't work. Hold down the Option key (PC: Alt) and click between the two layers in the layers palette. The cursor will morph into two over-lapping, black and white circles; that's when you click. The image should show through the type at that point.

It's funny, I wrote a tutorial (http://www.graphicreporter.com/tutorials/photoshop_clippinggroup.html) on bringing a photo of wood through the word "wood" this past summer. It may not be exactly what you're after, though it might put you on the right path.

Anybody else have any ideas for creating text with a wooden effect?

Thank you, It was so quick and easy, and got the effect I wanted.
I didnt think it would be that easy, thats awesome thank you!
Next time, i'll browse through the tutorials first, and try not to bother you with something like that again.
But I appreciate you taking the time to show me, it worked perfectly.
Thank you so much again, Hope to repay the favour!
