Photoshop Backgrounds?

So, I've seen photoshop tutorials and people like had backgrounds on their photoshop. i.e.: http://i26.tinypic.com/2mob0k8.jpg
The part I circled in blue, how can I put a background on there?
Or does it come like that?

Mine doesn't come like that. I don't know if you can add a background to photoshop. I am on a windows machine. Maybe it is a mac thing?

Hello,

That can be seen on only on MACs. Since when you launch Photoshop you will see Title Bar with menus and Options Bar and Toolbox with panels. Behind those is desktop background on MAC. But if you press F key once while in Photoshop it will be obstructed by Photoshop gray (192, 192, 192) background.
