Ok,

Really basic here.
How can you do a collage? as in how do you get separate images into a project on separate layers to begin with; assuming that's what you do....

Pretty simple, mate.

Just have the destination document open in Photoshop, and open whatever other documents you wanted implemented into the one. From there, click (with Move Tool) either on the document itself, or the layer in the Layers Palette, and drag whatever you clicked onto the surface of the destination document, you should see a black border appear around the edge of the document, and release. :)

Note: Photoshop does not auto-correct image sizes (thank God), therefore if your source document is larger then the destination document, clipping will occur. Mind you, you haven't really lost the image information, it's simply beyond the borders, so you can expand the canvas size or reduce the source image size as you see fit.
