Disappearing palettes

Whenever I toggle the brushes palette on from the control panel all my palettes vanish and don't reappear until I reopen them from the window menu. Is this normal behavior or a bug? I am working in CS3 on a mac in leopard. Thanks.

Could be a Leopard bug but I haven't heard about it. Also pressing the Tab key will cause the palettes to hide themselves.

I solved it. It was a case of corrupted preferences. I had to remove the photoshop preferences from the library, launch photoshop and and then toggle the brush palette on in the control panel. I then dragged the preferences folder back to the library preferences folder so as not to loose all the preferences I had already set up.
