Hello,

My guess is that you are on a background layer where you can't drop opacity and fill to it. Well you can but you need to convert your background layer to a regular layer but that is another story. Anyways check that you are not on a background layer.

Post here if problem persists.

Cheers :)

That's a bug if I ever heard of one... I've never heard of such a thing happening. You could try reseting your tools and some other options within Photoshop. Just out of curiosity, does adjusting the scrollbar that appears in the tool options do anything?

We'll do what we can to try and figure out the problem, but I'd also like to offer you two more possibilities in your process to get this figured out (as I'm sure it's quite frustrating):

To call Adobe Tech Support costs money ($30 or so, I believe for cheapest), but assuming you have a legitimate copy of Photoshop, you can register your product and open a Customer Service Web Case (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/support/index.cfm?event=membership&returnURL=%2Fcfusion%2Fsupport%2Findex%2Ecfm%3Feve nt%3Dportal%26loc%3Den%5Fus&loc=en_us) for (I'm pretty sure) no cost.
It's always free to visit the Adobe Forums (http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bbf2764/). It's an excellent place to figure out such problems.
It's also free to report a bug (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=70) with Adobe! :) And sometimes they're even so nice as to work with you to try and figure it out, if it piques their interests.

I really hope you're able to figure this out without having to reinstall or anything silly like that. Again, we'll do what we can to help you figure it out.

Ok,

Well when you are launching Photoshop press and hold these three keys SHIFT+COMMAND+OPTION. You should end up with dialog to delete Photoshop preference file. Note that you won't make it from first but be persistent. TIP: when you launch Photoshop just before splash screen is going to show up press keyboard shortcut i gave you. And when you are prompted to delete Adobe Photoshop preference file you by all means hit yes :)

I hope this can solve your problem. As before post here if situation is unchanged.

Cheers :)

noooooo :) you are not deleting your Photoshop. You are deleting Photoshop Preference file which will give you that your Photoshop is like already installed. Like fresh new install of it :)

:D

Ever notice how often the solution to software issues is to just scrap and restart preferences and settings? As a programmer this completely befuddles me; it just seems like a crutch of a solution to force front-end users to do... Eh, I'll keep my mouth shut as not to offend Adobe.
