what is the best way to draw a triangle? and a straight line? I don't see any line or triangle tool.

Use the 'polygon tool' and there is so a line tool...it's called the 'line tool'
What version of PS are you using?

the line tool is usually an option that is hidden in the SHAPE tool on your tool bar on the right, depending on what version of photoshop you have. here is a screen shot on how to access it. by the way, to make your lines straight when using the line tool, hold down SHIFT while you drag the tool, hope that helps
