Hello... forgive me if this topic is out of place or not discussed in this forum. However, I am current PC user with PS 7, and have used PS 7 and CS on a powerbook G4 and a G5 (respectively). I did notice that filters, rendering and loading of images was almost instantanious with the Macs. I attribute this greatly to the sub processors that Photoshop has been specificly written to use on a Mac.

I will be studying photography (starting in January) and need to update my computer.

When I update should I: Build a PC with an AMD 64 X2 processor, 4GB Ram, 500GB HDD (2x250GB), and SLI video using 2 Geforce 7800GT cards OR should I get a G5 with Ram and storage upgrades?

Also... would the above mentioned options be too much? (as if there ever could be :) ). Or would a Powerbook G4 be adequate?

Thank you for any input and suggestions you give!!

if you were to change - the time is now...

the powermac G5 is now dual core intel and is super fast, stretch to the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 on the 2 dual core and as much ram as you can afford

hope this helps
