Does anyone have the details for getting a neat blueprint-like ink sketch from a photo (without direct use of a filter)? The folks over at Watch n' Learn had one (a tutorial that is) on line a few years ago that was quite neat. It is no longer available on line but wondered if anyone ever saw it and can relate the basic details as to how best to do it.

The result had a lot of incredible detail and really looked like a blueprint image of the original building. I have seen some other tuts covering this topic but they are not as good as that one.

Thanks for any input here.

Thanks for the U-tube link. The tutorial by Cross (PS TV) and another there provided excellent ways to do this. Looking good.

Anyone else want to chip in with the Watch N' Learn details if you have 'em they would be most welcome also. But if not I think I have two great ways to do this now.

OK, me again (I don't want folks to think all I do is post to my own posts -but it likely seems that way).

On the U-tube link I found another short video for doing sketches (and it was a silent "walkthrough" video) and I unfortunately do not know who it was by but here are the details for a neat sketch approach.

Open picture> Duplicate Layer> Duplicate Again. To both top layers>Image>Adjust>Destaurate (Shift Control U on Windows).
To top layer>Image>Adjust>Invert (Ctrl I). Blend mode that layer to Color Dodge (goes white) then Go Filter>Blur>Gaussian and play with Radius until set right.

Want to color it? Do Hue Saturatiuon (Colorize) or add another layer and fill then set blend mode to Lighten. Toggle different layers on and off for a variety of final effects.

I just love all this stuff - don't you?

Yes, yes, I know after the last posting that the last thing I should be doing is posting again. BUT, I wanted everyone to know that I found the definitive(?) tutorial that covers the example above. Credit where credit is due. This is different from the silent video I found at U-tube and shows the complete detail - warts n' all. So thanks to Dave for this. There are a dozen or so other tuts at that site too. Check 'em out.

I'd play around with the "find-edges" filter and the diffrence-bending mode
