Ok how do I go about this...
I create dvd covers and I have a background photo that I want to use.. what my trouble is that I want to add another photo or two and have it blend into the background color but where you can see it in front of the background. Does that make sense?
Thanks for the help

Hello Joseph,
Ok this is the situation: you have some background image or solid color on background. And you want to place above on new layer some image, photo. So you want to see part of the background and part of that image. How to do that, is very simple, we'll use layer masks. In Layers palette click on ADD LAYER MASK thumbnail icon to add layer mask to that new image layer.. The default color of the mask will be white. So, now click on mask thumbnail and with your tool of choice for example brush or gradient paint with black on that mask. So if you have multiple images just add layer mask on them and paint :D simple as that!!! :D
If any questions, ask.

Humm...
The image that I add on top I want to be able to see through to the background.. more or less the whole image will blend into the background with color.
I wish I could show a photo of what I mean. Or web site image.
Here is a web site with a few look at the blue film reel

Hello Joseph,
I couldn't to find on that website you posted here as a link.
But with this technique i told you, you'll be able to see through the image to the background. It's about masking stuff and how you masked them. If you want your image semi transparent, paint with 50% gray on your mask. So basically you have white color, black color and shades between them. Try with this.
If you ran on some problem just send me message.
