Ok, I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to maintain a transparency created with filters after converting to gif. The filter I'm using is the Flaming Pear - Twist plug-in. I took a ss of the steps I used, the top image is what I started with, the middle image is what it looks like as psd after using the twist filter, and the third is after converting to gif (using save for web option) Is there a way to prevent the white from showing up after converting? Oh, and I'm using Photoshop 6.0
Heres the screenshot.

Hello,
Ohhhh it was a long time since i haven't used Photoshop 6.0 i think it was back in 1999. Anyways when you access the Save for Web dialog box and when you choose the GIF for option you should have bellow that option check mark for Transparency. And even with that your effect couldn't maintain it's appearance with GIF, because your effect like Drop Shadow will disappear or in your case turn to white because it needs to preserve appearance. Maybe is associated to Photoshop 6.0 function and in CS 2 preserves transparency but for example your soft brush will appear like hard brush.
TIP: Instead you could choose PNG-24 and check Transparency bellow and you'll have complete appearance maintained.
See ya

Yeah, photoshop 6 didn't have all those options, but I actually installed cs2 last night. I went with the png-24 option, and it seems to have worked great, but the file size is a bit big. I guess I can't have it all lol.
Thanks for your help.

yay you can :D if you use the save for web option it makes it a smaller file but you can still use the same file formats :D
