Hi, I am using a German keyboard and watching the tutorial I asked myself the same question. Afterwards I just tried various keys and found out that it is the less-than sign left from the “y”.

Hmm the less-than sign doesn’t work for me… using also a german keyboard and illustrator cs3 :-/

    Hi, Eddie.

I’m working with the German version of AI CS3. Maybe that’s the reason. Just tried it again and it still works. Hmmm

    Hi Tarn,

before applying the colour you have to lock the transparency. outmost left icon directly above your top layer.

    All the best,

The repeat-key on a german keyboard (german CS3-version) is ‘ö’, wich is a german-special-character. It’s an o with two dots.

    regards,

Hi there I just wanted to compliment you on the newest video addition you uploaded, you did a great job at creating this and commend you for the technique. I have seen this done before but a poor recreation at best. i truly enjoy your videos and i am glad that i bumped into your site by accident.

I found on the UK PC keyboard it is the ‘ or @ key, next to the enter key.

    Hi… Nice one…

I didn’t found it on a Portuguese keyboard… Instead, during the grid creation, I changed the language definitions on the windows vista options, in the programs bar, usually at the bottom of the page, and, even without knowing exactly which key was, I tried to press the one next to “1″ and it worked, then, after, I just changed it back, in the bottom icon, close to the date and time, back to Portuguese, and, it worked fine. For those still in XP, I believe it is exactly the same as I said here.
And good spot on that locking the transparency. I didn’t noticed, and just created the grid on Ai. But, well, if I was going to make all the tutorial, I would probably noticed, however, thanks to you too.

RGB Flesh Tones: Getting The “Red” Out

If you’re working on an RGB image and you’ve done your basic color correction but the flesh tone in your image still seems too red (a common problem), here’s a tip to fix it fast. First, select the flesh tone areas in your image (using the Lasso tool, etc.). Add a slight feather by going under the Select menu and choosing Feather. Enter a 1-pixel feather for low-res images; 3-5 pixels for high-res images. Go under the Image menu, under Adjustments, and choose Hue/Saturation. From the Edit pop-up menu, choose Reds. Now lower the Saturation slider until your skin tones look more natural and click OK.
