Well it seems that the Worldwide PhotoWalk that took place this past weekend was a great success. Despite a few hitches with the weather here in Florida, things seem to have come together nicely. If any of you attended a PhotoWalk, I would love to see what you shot. Simply drop a link to your gallery in the comments section of this post. It certainly sounds like everyone had a good time and perhaps made some new friends in the process.
Also, yesterday was kind of sad with the games of the 29th Olympiad coming to a close in Beijing. I rather enjoyed the Olympics this time around. There was some really intriguing moments and some real surprises. To be honest, it was the only good thing on TV for the past couple weeks. On a serious note, I wanted to congratulate team USA for delivering an inspired performance at the games this year and helping to make it one of the most historic Olympics ever. Well done!

Corey shares another way to get a cool 3D light beam effect.
Corey finishes up the Olympic-inspired design that he began last week in Part 1.
The Olympic-inspired tutorial will be coming in two parts. Stop by next week for the conclusion to this video.
This week’s tutorial deals with creating masks for complicated images by using channels.
When you create a grid box inside Vanishing Point, in addition to having the option of returning that grid back to Photoshop as a 3D object, you also have the option of exporting it as a 3D object that you can import into After Effects CS3 and manipulate in a 3D layer. Just click on the small right-facing triangle in the top of the dialog and in the flyout menu, choose Export for After Effects CS3 (.vpe).

Hi Corey,
Had a great time in San Francisco’s Financial District and Chinatown with one of the three groups here. Happy to see that Scott intends to make this an annual event.

The walk in San Jose was a blast! The people were amazing, the weather was perfect, and we all had a great time. It’s so much fun to see all the other images from around the world, too.
I’m already excited for next year!

I was worried about the weather in Little Rock, Arkansas as well. We had rain for about the first 15 minutes, but then the sun came out just a bit and all was nice. Even though we only had 9 or 10 walkers, I had a great time getting to know other photography enthusiasts in the state of Arkansas. I am definitely looking forward to next year.
My group admin hasn’t added my photos yet, but you can check out the few that I posted at http://www.flickr.com/mrwalton.

We had a wonderful walk in Antwerp – Belgium. It was a great idea and several walkers suggested to repeat in a year’s interval. Photos are on

It was the most fun!!! We had really nice weather in San Jose CA. I even used the “patented-Corey-Baker-warp-tool” answer even when I knew it was the wrong answer. Here’s the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29719422@N06/

The walk was Fantastic!! I had the honor to walk in Scotts group and we all had a great time. The rain cooperated as well as tropical Storm Faye, which by the way produced some dramatic skies!! I also did the walk in Safety Harbor which was a lot of fun also. RC got a great photo of Scott and I at our walk, and then Scott joined our Safety Harbor Walk also.. I was doubly blessed that day. What an honor. What a great day!! Here are some of my favorite shots from both walks… Lisa

The Cincinnati, Ohio Photowalk was a lot of fun…David Ziser picked a terrific route (kind of long) but well worth the aches and pains the next day.

The Kansas City, Missouri photo walk was rainy at first, then overcast and then we had some sun. I signed up and thought it would be fun to meet other shooters and wound up having my photo chosen as the winner! We didn’t do any group shot or even go to lunch together like most other cities did, but I think everyone had fun shooting and most met someone they wanted to shoot with or socialize with again. For that reason alone it was worth it. Here is the link to the winner from Kansas City:

We had an awesome evening of shooting in Colorado Springs, CO. The weather cooperated nicely…and we even got a spectacular sunset–not that comment in CO since the sun slips behind the mountains so quickly. A great event…can’t wait until next year! It was so much fun that I went to two — lakeland and safety harbor. With a stop at Hillsborough River State Park. Made a day of it from Kissimmee. Great fun. Let’s do it again!
