Well Adobe has announced that they will be announcing…hmmm that almost sounds silly. Anyway, they have announced that they will be announcing the new CS3 Suite on March 27. Mind you, they are not announcing a ship date. They are merely introducing the new product to the world, officially. This will be celebrated at the launch party Adobe will be having in New York City which will be a live webcast at 3:30 EST. Also, Adobe has released a teaser site. I have no clue what it is for, perhaps CS3? There isn’t much more to go on. I guess that’s why they call it a teaser. At least it has some cool interactive Flash content. Check it out here.
Now here is a man that has simply got it down. The man does not need a camera. He renders everything from scratch and the results are simply stunning. Bert has been using Photoshop pretty much since its inception and inclusion into the digital world and he has managed to leave even some of the best illustrators stupefied, and he is still at it. Bert currently is traveling the country bringing his expertise to the masses through his Creativity Tour, sponsored by the NAPP. You can check out Bert’s work here. You can also check out his weekly podcast in which he posts a new technique every week. Realy cool stuff.
Adobe just recently announced that in about six months they will be launching an online version of the Photoshop. This will be a sort of entry-level version giving people the ability to use Photoshop for free over the web. Now it won’t have the complete set of features that come in the shipping version of Photoshop, but will give newbies the ability to get really familiar and perhaps novice users to use it in remote location when they are away from their own computers. I must say, I am not fully understanding the logic myself but hmmm… we’ll see!!
Hey Photoshop World attendees! There is still time to enter the Guru Awards competition which is exclusive to Photoshop World attendees. The deadline is March 15 which is just two weeks away. This is a great opportunity to get your name and your work out there for the world to see. There are several categories that range from Photography to Illustration. I personally have taken home a couple Guru Awards myself and it has really helped me with getting recognition; plus it’s really great to see the kind of work other Photoshop users are doing. You can get more info on Photoshop World and the Guru Awards by going here.
Well for those of you who use other apps in the Adobe Creative Suite other than Photoshop, you will definitely want to check out the Creative Suite podcast by Adobe’s very own Terry White. Terry is the Technical Resources Manager at Adobe and each week he brings you the newest techniques in apps such as InDesign, Illustrator, GoLive and Acrobat. The lessons are straightforward and easy to follow. If you want to really take advantage of the entire suite, it’s a great resource. You can check it out here.

Now here is a nifty little site that I visit every now and then for inspiration. It’s called coolhomepages.com and it is a collection of web pages that range from personal to full-blown commercial. These are submitted by the creators of the sites and you can even submit your own. It is a really good resource for checking out what’s in and what’s out in the web design world. The search engine is broken down by category, so if you work in a particular field you can narrow your search to just that. It is definitely worth a look. You can check it out here.

Many of you may remember a little printed publication called Adobe Magazine which was replaced by the online PDF version known as Proxy. This was a really good magazine because the articles and tips were straight from the source. Well, Adobe has re-engineered and relaunched a new publication appropriately called “Adobe Magazine for Creative Professionals”. I know I am excited to see what is in store, especially with the recent Macromedia acquisition. We can probably expect a lot more. Click here for more info or to sign up.

Nikon USA has a cool, interactive photo gallery called stunningnikon.com. It is a collection of images submitted by Nikon users using the various models of Digital SLR cameras by Nikon. What’s interesting is the way you navigate and the ease of use; not to mention a lot of the images are really cool. I personally own a Nikon D40 and I am always interested in what others are accomplishing with the same equipment. So, if you own a Nikon, or even if you own another type of camera, it’s still interesting to see what others are doing and perhaps get some inspiration.

In Bridge, you can add keywords to images to make searching for pictures a little less cumbersome. You don’t, however, want the process to become tedious as well. By either Command-clicking (PC: Ctrl-clicking) or Shift-clicking on images, you can select multiple files inside Bridge. Once you have the files selected, you can go to the Keywords panel and turn on any keyword you like. This will apply the keyword to all of the files that you have selected. It takes away a little bit of the pain of categorization, but just a little.
