On February 22nd I will be bringing the Down & Dirty Tricks seminar tour right here in our own backyard in Tampa, FL. I gotta say I am excited about this one because I don’t have to get on a plane. It’s just a short 20 min drive from my home to the convention center. More exciting than that is the fact that since we are gonna to be right here at home, I invited Dave Cross and Scott Kelby to join us and perhaps teach a class or two and they agreed. (Don’t believe me? Well, click here and here
) So if you are in the Tampa bay area you don’t want to miss such a rare occurrence at one of our seminars. Scott, Dave and I would love for you to join us for a day of awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping Photoshop training awesomeness!!! All this for a mere $99 ($79 NAPP Member) Click for here more info and to register now.
Today Wacom announced the a brand new addition to the Intuos 4 line of pressure sensitive tablets. The Intuos 4-Wireless allows you to work untethered to your computer by a USB cord and has a range of up to 30 feet. Using Bluetooth technology this tablet has the full feature set of a regular Intuos 4 tablet, including the customizable LED Express keys. It’s everything you want from a Wacom tablet, just no wires. Imagine if you are a teacher or lecturer or maybe you like moving the tablet around or have it in your lap while your working. Only problem is that darn wire being in the way. Not any more! It has a re-chargable lithium ion battery which is charged through the USB cord. So you can plug in like normal and continue to work while it charges. This new tablet only comes in medium size only and is priced at $399.
I just got a hold of one of these last week and the first thing I noticed is how clean and slick my desk looked with no wires coming from the tablet. I notice no lag or anything you might encounter with a wireless device. I even tested went across the building to test the range and it did start to lag on the edge of the 30 ft range but really ask yourself if you are ever going to be working that far from your computer. I love this new addition and if you are seriously considering a new Intuos 4 tablet I would take a look at this one. Click here for more info.
Believe it or not Photoshop World is right around the corner and you only have until February 26 to take advantage of the early bird special. Which will save you $100 of the regular registration price. The event is March 24-26 in Orlando, FL. What better place is there to have Photoshop World. Not just the fun of Photoshop World but there is always something to do in Orlando. So you can turn the entire trip into a learning vacation. There are a bunch of new classes and a few new instructors, including a new pre-con session that Dave Cross and I are teaching on how to shoot and design a movie poster. Plus there are other pre-cons like the new HDR Crash Course with Matt Kloskowski and RC Concepcion. Just so many cool things happening in a cool place. I just can’t wait. To find out more and to register click here. Hope to see you there.
Scott Kelby just released his newest book called Photo Recipes Live Behind the Scenes. Well it’s not entirely a book I should say. In fact, it’s something even better. It’s a book and a dvd course all in one. You could almost look at it as a seminar in a box. The course follows Scott as he puts together numerous lighting scenarios in a cool loft apartment in New York City. You can watch the dvd which is like being there then always have the workbook to refer back to later. It’s the best of both worlds. Not to mention the world class “edutainment” you have come to expect from Scott’s teachings. This is a great new product and could be perhaps the start of a new series. This week Corey has a cool new trick for using 3D reflections in a rather creative way!
If you have a multilayer composition and you
want to apply an effect to all the layers at once, don’t flatten the layers–use a composite layer instead. Hide the layers you want excluded, and press Shift-Command-Option-E (PC: Shift-Ctrl-Alt-E). A new layer will be created at the top containing a merged copy of all the visible layers.
Another option is to create a new layer at the top of the stack and make it active. Command-click (PC: Ctrl-click) each layer you want to include to make those layers active, as well. Press Option-Command-E (PC: Alt-Ctrl-E).
